Progress Update 5

After the class critique, there were a few things I decided to either change or add to my piece. The first was a light. I took the front part of the stand mixer which inherently was rather reflective and added a light ray to show it as a light. I think this especially works for my piece because it is very dark and resembles night. Another thing I adjusted was the railroad. I adjusted the side on the left so that it wen back towards to skyline and thus better demonstrate that it is a mode of transportation. I also added smoke to resemble older steam locomotives. I think I was able to make it appear more natural by using the Screen blend mode and adjusting the opacity to 50%. I might retrace it to make it appear more like a vector and have it better match the style of the rest of the image. 

In terms of next steps, I think I might work on incorporating the whisk attachment of the stand mixer. I have a few photos for reference. If I do add the whisk I think I will tilt back the head of the stand mixer and straighten the base so that the whisk peaks out the top of the bowl and then have the railroad interact with it.

Another thing I might explore is adding the KitchenAid logo to the mixer as well as some of the text that are around the band on the head of the stand mixer.
