In regards to my ideas for what to combine this stand mixer with, I am considering combining it with a train. Part of this reasoning comes from the natural way in which I think the two objects could fit together. The head of the stand mixer resembles the shape of a monorail train, making it a natural pairing. The other part of the reasoning comes from the purposes of both a stand mixer and a train. A stand mixer takes various baking ingredients and mixes them by spreading them around the bowl from one location to the next until each of the individual ingredients are mixed together. In a way, a train does something similar. As a form of transportation, trains take people and goods from one place to another and provide the opportunity for the mixing of ideas and culture.
As I begin considering the background, I am considering a more urban background. It fits with the idea of a train and could provide a good reference for scale to show that the mixer is oversized. To make this background, I combined two images of city skylines. I used first image for the bulk of the background. I thought that it had some nice distance between the foreground and the skyline and was not to busy that it would distract from the mixer. I used the second image to fill in the background with additional skyscrapers on the left side since the first image was lacking. This was also in part because I was considering having the tracks come from the left side and the skyscrapers would help hide the vanishing of the tracks in a more natural way then having the tracks go off the side of the image.
