I began by working on the outlines of the stand mixer and trying to get the overall shape down. I then added began to convert the lines into shapes so I could add fills and gradients to the various different parts that make up the stand mixer. While I have used Illustrator quite often, I have rarely explored the gradient tool. The stand mixer provides the perfect opportunity to explore gradients to to the shiny metal that makes up the various surfaces of the stand mixer.
While the bowl presented some unique challenges due to its round shape, I think with some more work I will be able to manipulate the mesh into giving the kind of effect I am going for that also accurately represents the natural shine and reflection of a physical stand mixer.
